What is Project Everybody?
Project Everybody is a group-based, four-session intervention that provides a forum for girls to confront unrealistic beauty ideals and engages them in the development of healthy body image through verbal, written, and behavioral exercises.
The conceptual basis for Project Everybody is rooted in decades of research. When girls and young women voluntarily argue against the societal appearance ideal, it results in a reduced subscription to this ideal and consequent decreases in eating disorder risk factors and eating disordered behaviors. This program can benefit all girls, even those who may not be at elevated risk.
Customized for the sensitivities of our community, Project Everybody is based off of "The Body Project", originally developed by researchers at Stanford University, the University of Texas at Austin, and Oregon Research Institute, and has been delivered to over one million young women around the world.
Working closely with the originators of the program and a team of researchers we implemented culturally-appropriate changes that maintain the program’s efficacy without compromising our Torah standards. Our new adapted version "Project Everybody" - has already been used with great success.
